Bringing your WingPet along on your first date is a fun, surefire way to help you two connect. Check out these three pet-friendly, first-date ideas.

As a dog-loving matchmaker, I’ve interviewed hundreds of women who’ve all have said to me, “If their date doesn’t like their pet, there will not be a second date.” It’s that important, especially for single women. Their pet has been there with them through thick and thin, and they are observing how their pet reacts to their dates. So with that in mind, here are a few fun ways to include pets in a neutral setting, so you’ll be well-received by the WingPet and all!

Go Out for Puppuccinos

Grab a coffee. We hear this in business, but it works well for first dates with dog lovers, too. Going out for coffee is already a classic choice, but did you know Starbucks has a secret item you won’t find on the menu called the “Puppuccino”? There’s no coffee in it, so don’t worry. The baristas will already know what you’re looking for. A Puppuccino is a small cup filled with whipped cream. Sit outside for this perfect pet-friendly fun. Dogs love this tasty whip, and it’s one way you can win your date’s dog over quickly. Warning: Don’t be surprised if your dog starts whining whenever you drive by Starbucks after this though.

Note: Make sure your pet or theirs doesn’t have digestive issues or a dairy allergy before consuming a Puppuccino. A monthly treat may be fine, but it’s not something to do too often. You can also recreate this dog date fun at your place with pet-friendly, lactose-free ice cream such as Pooch Creamery or Coconut Whipped Cream.

Paddle Away

Kayaking or canoeing with your furry friends can be a fantastic way to spend a sunny afternoon. Most dogs love water and will have a blast as you explore a local lake, river, or ocean. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can even try paddleboarding. You’ll learn a lot about your date as you work together teaching your dog and/or theirs to surf! (It’s not easy, but it’s so worth it.)

I did this with my Greyhound, Shiraz, and a group of dog lovers along the Hudson River in New York. I had never done this before, and my dog and I loved it. The trickiest part was getting in the kayak, but we did it.

A Perfect Pup Picnic

What sounds more romantic than you and your furry companions in the woods, at a park, or on the beach, with a picnic basket full of scrumptious food and dog treats? The possibilities are endless. Bring a Frisbee, toys to play games, take fun pet portraits for each other and cap it all off with a picturesque hike through nature.

Regardless of how or where you go, including your WingPet on your first date with pet lovers is guaranteed to result in a happier experience with laughter that could help you both get off to a great start.
