Holiday traditions  worth repeating

The holidays are a time for two- and four-legged family members and friends to come together to celebrate holidays with dogs.

From Halloween, Christmas, and even Valentine’s Day, pet parents everywhere share their favorite holiday traditions with FetchaDate. Whether you’re adding another holiday tradition to your usual festivities or starting your very first tradition together, pet parents have some of the best pet-friendly traditions we’ve heard yet!

Puptastic sweaters

Gone are the days that grandma gifts you an ugly sweater and here to stay is putting your pup into an ill-fitting holiday sweater. All laughs aside, these pups sure do look cozy and cute!

“Every year, we give our pups a holiday sweater, so they can dress the part when we open our presents,” Daniel Caughill of New York, New York told FetchaDate. “We sort of misjudged the size our new puppy would need last year.”

I labra-dore you

For Daivat Dholakia of Essenvia, it’s her and her pup’s Valentine’s Day tradition that is most special to them. And it’s no wonder that her pup is her Valentine sweetie: Pets provide us with unconditional love every day of the year!

“We start the day with lots of cuddles and a big treat,” Dholakia said. “Then, a walk or hike if the day allows. We meet up with her best dog friend and have a playdate. The night ends with me making or bringing home dinner and sectioning off portions for my favorite girl to enjoy, too.”

“We like to think that receiving our adventure cat holiday cards are the highlight of the season,” said Janelle Leeson of Portland, Oregon.  “Between matching outfits and feeling like we have a pawpaw-razzi, we have so much fun.”

Howl-O-Ween traditions

Ariel and Jeter are ready for Halloween!

“My dog Jeter and I have a lot of holiday traditions,” said Ariel Diaz of Atlanta, Georgia. Their favorite? Dressing up for Halloween of course!

“During the fall, we love to attend Howl-O-Ween festivals around Atlanta where you can find pet-friendly vendors and activities, including a dog costume contest!”

WingPet stockings

If your perfect Christmas includes stockings strung along the mantle, why not include a special stocking for your furry family members too?

“My dog always gets a Christmas stocking, along with the rest of the family,” said Ravi Parikh who runs of Austin, Texas. “He gets his own presents wrapped, just like everyone else, along with special once-a-year treats. To be honest, I still haven’t figured out if it’s the presents or the unwrapping part that he enjoys most.”

Fur family PJs

Coordinating human and furry family member PJs is the perfect opportunity for fun pics and a lot of laughs, says Kyle MacDonald.

“A fun tradition that friends and family love is to see our family in matching PJs, humans, and pets!” said McDonald. “It’s easy to set a timer on your phone and adjust the lighting to create a print-quality postcard of the whole family in matching holiday pajamas. Those silly photos will even brighten the mail carrier’s day!”
